Few musicians leave their audiences with a feeling that they have trulywitnessed something amazing. Artist/Producer/Performer/Arranger/ Innovator AND Bassist - JAMAALADEEN TACUMA does just that. This native Philadelphian has always stretched the old mold of what and how a bassist is supposed to play. Tacuma has simply re-defined his instrument’s artistic potential.
Born in Nottingham to West African parents, the playing career of saxophonist TONY KOFI began when he chanced upon a series of jazz workshops, run in Leicester by Nick Hislam. Tony was bitten by the jazz bug and made a point of making the journey to go along to each session. This laid the seeds for what was to come, and a stint at the legendary Berklee College of Music in Boston Mass. USA, on a full scholarship. Most recently Tony has had the honour of being the youngest member and only non American of The World Saxophone Quartet having toured with them for the second time across Europe in the Summer of 2007.
“The clear-cut best pianist of his time...” is how Hot House Magazine" described ORRIN EVANS in 1998, praise which was echoed again in the summer of 2002. This remarkable talent was nurtured in a household filled with music due to the efforts of his mother, a classical singer who surrounded the youngster with everything from the melodies of Puccini to the pulsating rhythms of Basie and Ellington.
TIM HUTSON has been playing drums since the age of eight and has continued to do so. Tim has performed with artists such as The Stylistics, Harpist Jeff Majors, Regina Belle, Ronnie Laws, Miles Jaye, Dexter Wansel, David Murray, Lou Raws, John Legend, and CeCe Peniston. Tim also produces music and has started his own record label entitled Fahrenheit
Records.
